Entering uncertainties into UK DUETs
Survey results can be imported the
UK Database of Uncertainties about the Effects of Treatment (UK DUETs) from a tagged text file. For further information, please contact the UK DUETs Editor:
mark.fenton@nice.org.uk.
The following templates describe the information required of a UK DUETs uncertainty:
- An example of a spreadsheet designed for the import of uncertainties into UK DUETs - click here.
- An example of controlled fields where UK DUETs needs exact wording, such as health care conditions, age of the patient and other fields - click here.
Resources required to undertake this task will vary in relation to the extent of the number of submissions returned. Uncertainties can sometimes be more detailed than simple research recommendations. This phase of data management and checking can be complex.
In earlier projects, inputting uncertainties has shown that:
- between 10 and 20 patient and clinician-submitted uncertainties can be processed in one day
- uncertainties from research recommendations and other literature can be processed at a rate of 15 to 30 per day
This is depends on the experience of the person entering the data, their critical appraisal skills, clinical knowledge and information retrieval skills.
